Farnham Road Fitness Area, Loughborough

The Borough Council’s Open Spaces strategy identified a shortfall of youth facilities in the area and an off-site contribution from a local development was earmarked to address the shortage. The local community association endorsed the idea and a local consultation provided confirmation that the design was appropriate.

The aim of the project to was create a space for the whole community where there are many fitness and sporting activities, these include:

Five a side Football court
Basketball full court
Basketball skill and shooting area
HAGS TGO fitness equipment

The Arena has an adjacent path running all the way around the system and linking paths to the fitness area from the main path to enable all the community no matter their ability to gain easy access to the facility. There are also benches plotted around the facility to ensure that the community have areas of rest after a busy sport of fitness activity.
