Meadowdale Park & Westlea, Bedlington

Two new playgrounds for West Bedlington Town Council

HAGS have recently completed playgrounds at Meadowdale and Westlea following over a year’s work with West Bedlington Town Council. The project brief was to create two new play areas which replaced the existing, outdated play provision, giving them play areas which were easy to manage and maintain whilst providing exciting, modern play opportunities for toddlers to juniors.

Initial design concepts and budget costs were worked on with the client in late 2015 and following a tender process, HAGS began work in Autumn 2016. Funding came from S106 contributions, Northumberland County Council and the remainder from the Town Council’s own capital.

The designs included a range of kit to cater for all play abilities, featuring specific inclusive items such as a Spinmee roundabout and Mirage swing seat, which are linked with hardstanding surfacing to provide access to all. In addition to traditional equipment such as springers, swings and a trampoline, dynamic play items including the Mantis Zip Wire and Nexus Core provide a more thrilling experience.
