Mosshead Play Area

Project Brief

East Dunbartonshire Council were looking to upgrade a very popular play area in Bearsden. The site was previously very spaced out and on a high water holding grassed area.

The play area had some key features in it that truly represented Bearsden, and when we received the brief, we tried to incorporate the community’s history into the new area.

The brief was to create a smaller footprint, on wet pour with significant drainage, to prevent waterlogging.

The area needed to be suitable for tots to teenagers, be inclusive and be bright, colourful and attract the surrounding families to play. We included a toddler and a junior unit, both of which encourage all abilities to play, accessible swings as well as many other key items, maximising play value.

To tie the area into the local community we used colours from the Bearsden coat of arms, to keep the history of Bearsden alive in the park.
