Pools Playground, Tower Hamlets, London
Part of a two-site tender (the other being V&A Playground), this inclusive playground in London’s oldest purpose-built park attracts children of all ages and abilities from miles around.
Providing the full package
After being approached by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, HAGS submitted the winning tender, with a design which offered everything the Borough’s team requested and more. HAGS’ design provided the 16 acknowledged play types, whilst ensuring the playground was easily accessible to all and adhered to the high quality and safety standards the London Borough had come to expect from HAGS (being a previous customer).
A playground for everyone
An essential demand of the brief was to ensure that all children and young people, including those with special educational needs and disabilities were able to access the equipment. No problem for HAGS, with their history of designing inclusive play areas and having worked closely together with leading play and child development specialists in this area.
Reuse and recycle
Pools Playground now has an impressive 6 metre high UniPlay climbing structure (which reused the existing tube slide!) It also has a Cruise Line group zip wire, providing a thrilling and exciting ride for all ages, two ever-popular Tango face-to-face swing seats and a Roty roundabout.
