Portman Road, Reading

Project Background

The redevelopment of the old Battle Hospital site saw S106 contribution towards improving the play facilities at nearby Portman Road. This was split between a Children’s Playground and a Multi-Use-Games-Area.

Understanding the Vison

The Council received four submissions for this project, all met the initial criteria and were shortlisted. HAGS came second in the Accessible Play Task and Finish Group vote, joint second in the Parks Technical Assessment, first in value for money assessment and first in the public vote. Overall, HAGS won the selection and evaluation and were consequently awarded the project contract.

HAGS presented a well thought through and exciting proposal for the refurbishment of this playground. HAGS Sales Manager and Project Manager were professional and helpful to enable works to start on site. Jilly and Ben were helpful and on-hand to speak to at all times during the works. Despite the delays faced (due to weather and sub-contractors) and slightly extended end-date, HAGS provided an exciting and enjoyable playground for local residents. I would recommend working with HAGS.
